Objective
Acquire a good knowledge of animals’ characteristics. Recognize the various species, family and animal kingdom. Stimulate the creativity of the students.
Theoretical part
Myths and fairy tales are often populated of fantastic animals. What features they would have if they were real?
Through the museum visit will be learnt the features of well-known animals and will be organize a game in which these animals will be mixed to create fantastic animals!
Practical part
Creation of a fantastic animals through different techniques (such as collage, painting and construction). Will be used different shape and texture materials.

Objective
Acquire a good knowledge of animals in their natural habitat, as well as the hunting, escaping and the predatory strategies of the various animals.
Theoretical part
Throughout the observation of the animals, will be illustrated the typical characteristic of predatory animals. It will be explained the importance and utility of living in a herd and the delicate balance between predators and preys.
Practical part
Comparison among cranium, teeth and traces to recognize carnivores, herbivores and rodents. Imprint tracks realization.

Objective
Explore the world of insects, learn the role of insects in the various ecosystems.
Theoretical part
Introduction to the world of arthropods, observing the life-size models and specimen of entomological collection. Will be studied the similarities and differences among the various insects, the survival strategies and will be shown how some species play an important role in the world of men.
Practical part
Direct observation of colonial insects’ life, building of a small model of an insect in its habitat.

Objective
Learn the most important geological events during the last 6 million years, included the appearance of the human being on the earth.
Theoretical part
Will be analyzed the recent geological events, studied the geological phases which caused glaciations, the Australopithecus’ appearance up to the genus Homo. Will be explained which materials has been used by first humans as utensils.
Practical part
Will be analyzed the flint knapping, leather processing, fire ignition.

Objective
Learn the dichotomous key to classify the different living organisms.
Course
Accompanying by a guide, we’ll move around the different areas of Zoological museum where we can observe the taxidermized animal as feline, mammal, invertebrate, bird, reptile and fish from all over the world. Some of our areas offer diorama reconstructions of the environment where tigers, lions and bears are exposed.
There is, under construction, a diorama exposing the typical fauna of Tuscany.
The visit is about 1 hour and 30 long.
